A villain's job description

You are hired by Big Auto to spread what the game calls the "freedom of car dependency" among a town's residents. The premise is satire, and the Steam page leans into it: introduce the need for car commuting, turn neighborhoods into car parks, use propaganda to convince people to pay you for it, and deal with the ones who see through your oily business.

How it plays

The game is a real-time simulation with hundreds of vehicles and citizens moving at once, drawn in isometric pixel art that deliberately recalls the 1990s. The studio cites Theme Park, RollerCoaster Tycoon and SimCity 2000 as its inspirations, and the interface shows it: dense toolbars, a clock in the corner, and a city that fills with tiny people.

The tools for the job include:

  • 3D construction of multi-story garages and open parking lots.
  • Propaganda in the form of billboards, statues and megaphones, aimed at raising residents' happiness with cars and converting them to car dependency.
  • A protest system, because not everyone enjoys losing their street.
  • Attractions built for cars, including a Ferris wheel that carries them.
  • Oil drilling, and a "Stat-o-matic" dashboard that tracks how the conversion is going.

What comes next

Early Access is planned to last roughly ten months, with the full release expected in summer 2027. The studio's site is hilkojj.nl, and the game is on Steam.
