Call of Duty 2: Big Red One is a World War II first-person shooter developed by Treyarch and published by Activision on November 1, 2005 for PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube. Unlike the Call of Duty 2 made for PC and Xbox 360 the same year, it follows one unit, the US 1st Infantry Division, from the beaches of North Africa through Sicily, Normandy and the Siegfried Line.
CRIT6 compared the campaign with the real division's war: what the game follows faithfully, where it takes liberties, and the ending in Czechoslovakia it leaves out.
Stories
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One and the real 1st Infantry Division
The game stops at the Siegfried Line. The division it honors kept going, and its real war was harder, longer and stranger than any mission.
